Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program
Minimum of one year of experience as a High-Risk OB Ultrasound Tech
Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Valid Ultrasound license in compliance with state regulations
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification (ARDMS)
Current ARRT Certification in Sonography
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
The High-Risk OB Ultrasound Tech specializes in performing invasive and non-invasive
obstetric and gynecological ultrasound procedures to assist in diagnosing and managing high-risk
pregnancies. They ensure accurate, high-quality imaging, collaborate with multidisciplinary
teams, and provide detailed findings to consulting providers while prioritizing patient education,
safety, and comfort.
Essential Work Functions:
Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support the diagnosis and management of high-risk pregnancies
Prepare and position patients for obstetric and gynecological imaging, ensuring comfort and safety
Perform all Obstetrical and Gynecological Ultrasounds according to ACOG guidelines
Perform Ultrasound studies for diagnosis including assessment of fetal growth, development and age, and evaluation for fetal anomalies
Perform prenatal ultrasound imaging for fetal diagnosis and anomaly detection for patients with high-risk indications
Perform Ultrasound evaluation for fetal and umbilical Doppler studies
Perform ultrasound guidance for amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, percutaneous umbilical cord sampling, special invasive procedures, and gynecological sonography including gynecological Doppler
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot all ultrasound equipment
Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe work environment for patients and staff
Educate patients and families about procedures, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
Maintain accurate documentation and patient records to support continuity of care
Work efficiently in high-pressure environments, maintaining composure and professionalism
Perform other duties assigned within the scope of a High-Risk OB Ultrasound Tech
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
