Job Details

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a 13 week travel assignment in Glasgow, Montana. Required Qualifications:

  • One year of recent experience as a phlebotomist
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Summary:

A Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, or medical research. They ensure proper specimen handling, maintain patient comfort, and follow strict safety and infection control protocols. Phlebotomists play a key role in the healthcare system by obtaining accurate and high-quality samples for diagnostic purposes while providing compassionate patient care.


Essential Work Functions:

  • Provides exceptional patient care while performing blood draws using various techniques, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks (for infants)
  • Educate patients on blood draw procedures clearly, easing patient anxiety, and addressing concerns professionally
  • Utilizes aseptic techniques for all procedures, safely disposes of waste materials and safely handles blood products
  • Accurately records patient information, verifies identification, and ensures proper tube selection and order of draw
  • Strong knowledge of blood collection devices, centrifuges, and point-of-care testing equipment
  • Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and other regulatory guidelines for biohazard safety, PPE usage, and sterile technique
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks while maintaining quality and high patient care standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
  • Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory - Visual acuity, ability to effectively communicate.
