Alabama has joined the OT Compact, but the state is not yet issuing or honoring compact privileges. Until Alabama begins processing privileges, travelers must obtain an Alabama-specific license through the endorsement process before practicing here.
Endorsement Process
Alabama uses an online portal endorsement process for occupational therapists already licensed in another state. You'll need to submit your completed application along with supporting documents and the $140 application fee.

Background check requirements vary by applicant — confirm the current fingerprinting and screening steps with the Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy. Where fingerprinting applies, submit your authorization as early as possible, since background check processing is one of the most common sources of delay.
