Overview
Montana has joined the OT Compact, but the state is not yet issuing or honoring compact privileges. Until Montana begins processing privileges, travelers must obtain a Montana-specific license through the endorsement process before practicing here.
Montana has ENACTED the OT Licensure Compact and is a member, but compact privileges are NOT currently available in Montana. Travelers CANNOT practice under a compact privilege yet. The board's own page states privileges are unavailable because the FBI has not authorized Montana to run fingerprint background checks for OT license types. All travelers must obtain a Montana license by endorsement before practicing (the compact is enacted but not operationalized nationwide).
Endorsement Process
Montana uses an online portal endorsement process for occupational therapists already licensed in another state. You'll need to submit your completed application along with supporting documents and the $190 application fee.
