Travel PTs holding an active compact multistate license from another compact member state can work in Texas immediately under compact privilege without obtaining a separate state license—zero lead time for compact-eligible candidates. Non-compact candidates must apply by endorsement with 8-10 week processing.
For travelers, this means you can begin a Texas assignment immediately if your home state is also a PT Compact member and your license is set to multistate status. However, if you establish Texas residency during your assignment, your compact privilege becomes invalid and you must apply for a Texas license through endorsement.
