Overview
Florida has joined the ASLP-IC, but the state is not yet issuing or honoring compact privileges. Until Florida begins processing privileges, travelers must obtain a Florida-specific license through the endorsement process before practicing here.
Florida is an ASLP-IC member state (joined 2024 via SB 7016 as the 30th member). However, the compact is not yet operationalized — only Louisiana, Ohio, and West Virginia were issuing compact privileges as of February 2026. Florida is not yet onboarded to CompactConnect, so travelers cannot practice in FL on a compact privilege today; full Florida licensure by endorsement is still required until FL goes live.
Endorsement Process
Florida uses an online portal endorsement process for speech-language pathologists already licensed in another state. You'll need to submit your completed application along with supporting documents and the $280 application fee.

License verification is handled through ASHA or direct board verification. Florida requires verification from every state where you hold or have held a speech-language pathologist license, so request verification early to avoid delays.
Background check requirements vary by applicant — confirm the current fingerprinting and screening steps with the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Where fingerprinting applies, submit your authorization as early as possible, since background check processing is one of the most common sources of delay.
After all components are received, the Board reviews applications on a rolling basis. Check the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology website for status updates on your application.

Temporary License
