Overview
Indiana has joined the ASLP-IC, but the state is not yet issuing or honoring compact privileges. Until Indiana begins processing privileges, travelers must obtain an Indiana-specific license through the endorsement process before practicing here.
Indiana has enacted ASLP-IC legislation and is a member state, but the compact is NOT yet operational in Indiana. As of early 2026 only Louisiana, Ohio, and West Virginia are issuing/accepting compact privileges. Travelers cannot yet practice in Indiana on a compact privilege; a full Indiana license (by examination or reciprocity) is currently required.
Endorsement Process
Indiana uses an online portal endorsement process for speech-language pathologists already licensed in another state. You'll need to submit your completed application along with supporting documents and the $150 application fee.

License verification is handled through ASHA or direct board verification. Indiana requires verification from every state where you hold or have held a speech-language pathologist license, so request verification early to avoid delays.
Background check requirements vary by applicant — confirm the current fingerprinting and screening steps with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Where fingerprinting applies, submit your authorization as early as possible, since background check processing is one of the most common sources of delay.
After all components are received, the Board reviews applications on a rolling basis. Check the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency website for status updates on your application.

Temporary License
