Overview
South Carolina has joined the ASLP-IC, but the state is not yet issuing or honoring compact privileges. Until South Carolina begins processing privileges, travelers must obtain a South Carolina-specific license through the endorsement process before practicing here.
South Carolina has enacted ASLP-IC legislation and is a member state, but the compact is NOT yet operational in SC. As of early 2026, compact privileges are only being issued to licensees in Louisiana, Ohio, and West Virginia. SLPs must obtain a full SC license by endorsement; compact privilege is not currently an option.
Endorsement Process
South Carolina uses an online portal endorsement process for speech-language pathologists already licensed in another state. You'll need to submit your completed application along with supporting documents and the $200 application fee.

Background check requirements vary by applicant — confirm the current fingerprinting and screening steps with the South Carolina Speech-Language Pathology Board. Where fingerprinting applies, submit your authorization as early as possible, since background check processing is one of the most common sources of delay.
