Question 1

How much experience do I need for travel Infusion RN jobs?

Accepted Answer

Most travel Infusion RN positions require two years of recent specialty experience. Facilities typically prefer candidates with exposure to various patient populations, infusion therapies, and clinical settings. Requirements vary by location and facility type, with some assignments accepting less experience for less complex cases. Your Fusion recruiter can help identify assignments that align with your current experience level and clinical background. Travelers with experience in chemotherapy administration, TPN management, antibiotic therapy, and central line care are particularly competitive. Many facilities also value candidates who have worked in both inpatient and outpatient infusion settings, as this demonstrates adaptability across different care environments and patient acuity levels.

Question 2

What certifications do I need for travel Infusion RN positions?

Accepted Answer

Travel Infusion RN positions require an active RN license and current BLS certification. CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) certification from the Infusion Nurses Society is commonly preferred by facilities. VA-BC (Vascular Access-Board Certified) certification demonstrates specialized vascular access expertise and is valued for complex infusion therapy roles. Requirements vary by facility and assignment location. Your recruiter will review specific certification requirements for each position and help you understand which credentials are needed versus preferred. Some facilities may accept candidates working toward CRNI certification, while others require it at the time of hire. Having both CRNI and VA-BC certifications can expand your assignment options and demonstrate advanced infusion nursing expertise.

Question 3

How long are travel Infusion RN assignments?

Accepted Answer

Travel Infusion RN assignments typically run 13 weeks. This is the standard contract length across travel healthcare, though extensions are common when both the nurse and facility agree to continue. Shorter contracts may be available depending on specific facility needs and staffing requirements. Your Fusion recruiter can help you find assignments that match your preferred timeline, whether you're looking for a standard 13-week contract, exploring extension opportunities at a facility you enjoy, or seeking shorter-term placements. Contract flexibility varies by location and facility, so discussing your timeline preferences early in the placement process helps ensure you find assignments that align with your personal and professional goals.

Question 4

How much do travel Infusion RN professionals make?

Accepted Answer

Travel Infusion RN pay varies by location, facility type, and your experience level. Infusion pay is competitive, reflecting the growing demand for vascular access and infusion specialists. Competitive weekly pay packages typically include a taxable hourly rate plus tax-free stipends for housing, meals, and incidentals. Contact your Fusion recruiter to discuss current pay packages in your preferred locations.
