Question 1

How much experience do I need for travel Pre/Post Op RN jobs?

Accepted Answer

Most travel Pre/Post Op RN assignments prefer one to two years of recent specialty experience. Facilities commonly seek candidates with direct patient care exposure in perioperative settings, though requirements vary by location and employer. Broader experience across different patient populations and facility types strengthens your candidacy. Your recruiter can identify assignments that align with your background, whether you're building specialty depth or transitioning with transferable skills from related acute care areas.

Question 2

What certifications do I need for travel Pre/Post Op RN positions?

Accepted Answer

Travel Pre/Post Op RN positions require an active RN license and current BLS certification. ACLS is commonly preferred by facilities. CAPA certification from ABPANC demonstrates specialized competency in perianesthesia nursing and is valued for pre/post op roles, though not universally required. Some facilities may also prefer PALS certification depending on patient population. Requirements vary by facility and state, so your recruiter will review specific credential needs for each assignment and help you understand which certifications will strengthen your candidacy for the positions you're interested in pursuing.

Question 3

How long are travel Pre/Post Op RN assignments?

Accepted Answer

Travel Pre/Post Op RN assignments typically run 13 weeks. This is the standard contract length across travel healthcare, though shorter assignments may be available depending on facility needs. Extensions beyond 13 weeks are common when both the nurse and facility agree to continue the placement. Contract lengths can vary based on seasonal demand, facility staffing needs, and unit-specific requirements. Your recruiter can help identify assignments that match your preferred timeline, whether you're looking for a standard 13-week placement or exploring shorter or extended options. Some facilities offer contracts ranging from 8 to 26 weeks based on their perioperative staffing needs.

Question 4

How much do travel Pre/Post Op RN professionals make?

Accepted Answer

Competitive weekly pay packages typically include a taxable hourly rate plus tax-free stipends for housing, meals, and incidentals.
