Travel Surgical Tech Jobs in Alaska

Most travel Surgical Tech positions require one to two years of recent experience. Facilities typically prefer candidates with exposure to diverse surgical procedures, patient populations, and operating room settings. Requirements vary by location and facility type, with some assignments accepting less experience for less complex cases. Your Fusion recruiter will help identify assignments that align with your current skill level and experience. Travelers with broader surgical backgrounds—including experience in multiple specialties like orthopedics, cardiovascular, or general surgery—tend to be more competitive candidates. Some facilities may also prefer certifications like CST or additional training in robotic-assisted surgery, though these requirements depend on the specific assignment and facility needs.

Travel Surgical Tech positions commonly require CST certification from NBSTSA or TS-C from NCCT. Both certifications demonstrate competency in surgical technology and sterile technique. Current BLS certification is also standard across most facilities. Some hospitals may prefer additional certifications like ACLS depending on the surgical specialty and patient population served. CST from NBSTSA remains the most widely recognized credential in the field. Requirements can vary by facility and state, so it's important to verify specific credentials needed for each assignment. Your recruiter will review the exact certifications required for positions you're interested in and help ensure your credentials meet facility standards before you apply.

Travel Surgical Tech assignments typically run 13 weeks. This is the standard contract length across travel healthcare, though shorter assignments may be available depending on facility needs. Extensions beyond the initial 13-week period are common when both the traveler and facility agree to continue the placement. Contract lengths can vary based on facility staffing requirements, seasonal demand, and specific project needs. Your Fusion recruiter can help identify assignments that match your preferred timeline, whether you're looking for standard 13-week contracts, shorter assignments, or opportunities with high extension potential in facilities where you'd like to stay longer.
